PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electroluminescent element capable of emitting light in clear colors without requiring its overall thickness to be increased. SOLUTION: In the electroluminescent element EL 31 in which a transparent electrode 6, an emitter layer 5, a dielectric layer 4, and a back electrode 3 are sequentially deposited on the lower surface of a transparent base 34 and sealed by an insulating film 2, transfer paper with color images 33 printed thereon using subliming dye ink is transferred into the transparent base 34 (PET film) under heat and pressure to produce color images 33 of various characters, signs, patterns, or pictures, photographs, etc.
