PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device control system which can install a unit control program that a user judges to be optimum. SOLUTION: In the device control system, a host unit 100 is provided with a network monitoring part 101 detecting the reset of a network, a message reception part 102, a message transmission part 103, a unit control program information table storage part 104 storing unit identification ID of a guest, ID of a unit control program corresponding to it and a supporting function, a guest unit control program storage part 105 installing and storing the program for controlling a guest unit from a host side, a display device 108, an input part 109 and a control part 110. The control part 110 controls the system to collect information on the unit control program on the prescribed guest unit by communicating with the other host unit, to generate a comparison list where the functions of a plurality of unit control programs existing on the network and addresses are displayed and to display it to the user.
