PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which inverse transfer is prevented to an image carrier of toner image formed on the image carrier which is caused by discharge at the nip entrance region of a transfer nipping part at which the image carrier and a transferred material are confronted. SOLUTION: In this apparatus, a voltage Vp to be applied to a transfer bias roller 62b, the nip width Ln of a transfer nipping part and the charged potential V of a photoreceptor 40 are adjusted so that the discharge between the non-image part of the photoreceptor 40 and the toner image transferred on an intermediate transferring belt 10 is not generated at the nip entrance region of the transfer nipping part. As a result, the discharge at sides of nip entrance regions are suppressed and inverse transfer to photoreceptors 40 in transferring process of the second color and succeeding colors are prevented and, moreover, it is made possible to recycle remaining toner which are recovered from the photoreceptors 40. |
