PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a downsizing of a projector main body and reduction in the number of connecting cables for the liquid crystal projector capable of displaying a video correspondingly to two or more kinds of video formats. SOLUTION: A video display device capable of displaying a video correspondingly to two or more kinds of video formats is provided with a single connector 1 with pins for inputting each of two or more kinds of the video signals, a discrimination means for discriminating the video signals inputted via the connector 1 among the video signals of these two or more kinds of video formats, and a processing means for displaying the information identifying this video signal discriminated by the discrimination means on the video superimposed.
