PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone set and a cell originating method therefor for simplifying a call originating operation when originating a call to the portable telephone set which can be accommodated on a plurality of networks. SOLUTION: An electronic telephone directory storage part 106 is provided for registering a plurality of telephone numbers of call destination telephone sets within a single record. An accommodation network discriminating part 107 discriminates a network on which the present portable telephone set is accommodated, and a telephone number selecting part 108 originates a call after finding out a line of low communication costs by selecting a combination of the registered telephone numbers and the network on which the present portable telephone set is accommodated. When call origination fails, the next best telephone number is displayed on a display part 105 corresponding to the combination of the registered telephone numbers and the network on which the present portable telephone set is accommodated to easily originate a call again.
