PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image scanner where the boundaries of light and shade, which are otherwise produced in output images at seams between areas covered by individual sensors and image displacement are prevented. SOLUTION: Image data, acquired from scanned pixels which are not used in generating image data of the entire image of an original, in image sensors arranged on one side in the direction of sub-scan of a plurality of image sensors in staggered arrangement, are stored. Based on the stored data, image data, acquired from scanned pixels which are overlapped in the direction of main scan with scanned pixels, from which stored image data, is acquired in image sensors arranged on the other side in the direction of sub-scan is corrected.
