PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the deterioration of an image such as the void of a trailing end so as to form a high-quality image, and to improve the retentive force of carrier so as to prevent the adhesion of the carrier. SOLUTION: This developing device has a developer carrier and a means for napping developer on the developer carrier by using a magnetic pole. The napping means has at least a 1st magnetic pole (P1b) positioned to be opposed to a latent image carrier and a 2nd magnetic pole (P1c) positioned on the downstream side of the rotation of the 1st magnetic pole, and the damping factor of magnetic flux density in the normal direction of the developer carrier when the developer napped by using the 1st magnetic pole forms a nip area with the latent image carrier is >=40%. In the device, P1b<P1c holds in terms of the half value width of each magnetic pole. |
