PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an activated carbon for an electrode of low electrostatic capacity appearance voltage and high electrostatic capacity density (F/cc), by using a prescribed carbon material. SOLUTION: An activated carbon for an electrode of an electric double-layer capacitor is manufactured by carrying out carbonization treatment and alkaline activation treatment one by one, using carbon material. For the carbon material used, it is a condensed polycyclic aromatic compound CPAC, which has a condensed ring CR and at least one aliphatic hydrocarbon group R bonded to the condensed ring CR, and the condensed ring CR contains at least one alicyclic hydrocarbon structure part ALC; and when signal intensity of aromatic series peak is IR, signal intensity of aliphatic hydrocarbon peak is IL and signal intensity of alicyclic hydrocarbon peak is Ic is analysis chart using C<13> -NMR spectrum method, signal intensity ratio IL/IR>=0.2 and signal intensity ratio Ic /IR>=0.14. |
