PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric/elecrostrictive element which is superior in strength, shock resistance, handling properties, dimensional accuracy, position accuracy, element characteristic stability, and manufacturing yield. SOLUTION: Piezoelectric/electrostrictive layers 11A, 11B, 11C, and 11D and internal electrode layers 12A, 12B, and 12C are alternately laminated into a laminate which is nearly trapezoidal in cross section, the opposed sloping surfaces of the laminate are represented by f3 and f4, external electrode layers 14 and 15 are formed on the sloping surfaces f3 and f4 respectively, and the external electrode layers 14 and 15 are alternately connected to the internal electrode layers 12A, 12B, and 12C. |
