PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery charger, which allows making the standby current nil, when a device to be charged is removed, even if a power supply outlet is in a plugged-in state. SOLUTION: Making the standby current nil is achieved by interrupting supply of a commercial power supply, while the device 6 to be charged is dismounted, by having a battery charger body 16a, which includes a transformer 2 and a rectifier/filter circuit 4, which are connected with a commercial power supply on the primary side via a reed switch 3 and converts the commercial power supply to a DC power supply, and transmission terminals 5 which connects the output of the rectifier/filter circuit 4; and having a magnet 10 which turns on the reed switch 3, when the device 6 to be charged is mounted on the battery charger body 16a.
