PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of applying color correction corresponding to frequency components to image data. SOLUTION: The apparatus is provided with a synthetic section 311 for synthesizing object color component data 235 equivalent to data of an image from which the effect of a lighting environment is eliminated with light component data 236 denoting the effect of the lighting environment onto the image to generate image data, and a color correction section 312 for applying color correction corresponding to the frequency components to the image data. Also, a correction filter 337 is stored in which a correction factor for each frequency component is set as a spectral correction factor. A spectral distribution of a reflected light in each pixel of synthetic image data 331 is obtained from the data 235 and 236. By multiplying the obtained data by the spectral correction factor of the filter 337, corrected image data 332 which is corrected according to frequency components can be obtained.
