PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lock mechanism of a handle member that has a simple configuration with a small number of components and can improve operability in the handling of a handle member, and to provide a portable apparatus having the lock mechanism. SOLUTION: A lock mechanism L comprises a handle member 1 that is supported by an apparatus body rotatably, a stopper member 6 that is engaged to a rotary shaft 2 of the handle member 1 for preventing the handle member 1 from being rotated for locking and at the same time is disconnected from the rotary shaft 2 of the handle member 1 for releasing the lock, and an energizing member 7 for energizing the stopper member 6 in a lock position direction for engaging with the rotary shaft 2. Additionally, the lock mechanism L has a lock/release switching member 9 for sliding and moving the stopper member 6 to a lock release position that is disconnected from the rotary shaft 2 against the energizing force of the energizing member 7.
