PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a key pad which can input transmission signals or the like as well as perform various functions for various portable phones such as a cellular phone, PCS, CDMA-2000 and IMT-2000. SOLUTION: After an EL panel structured in a thin sheet shape with various inorganic type (or organic type) matters printed in lamination on an ITO film is applied in an insertion-molding method on each key position of a key pad, all the keys are linked up in a lattice-like pattern through the power source link-up line so as to be electric contact points with a battery for a portable phone, and at same time, are linked up with a printed circuit board, whereby, the key pad structure is provided with a transmitted illumination function in which its total power consumption is lowered while brightness of the total key pad is kept constant and also illumination of the key pad is expressed in various ways when the portable phone is used by changing colors of the EL panel diversely.
