PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide portable telephone with camera with which the other person does not misunderstand photographing by a camera or is not uselessly cautious about photographing and further convenience is improved in both a portable telephone mode and a camera mode. SOLUTION: This portable telephone is provided with an image pickup part 4 for photographing an image, an opening/closing lens cover for protecting the lens for image pickup of the image pickup part 4, a detection part 4 for detecting opening/closing of the lens cover, a memory 7 storing a plurality of mode setting information to which various kinds of function setting are applied, and a control part 8 for switching one of a plurality of mode setting stored on the memory 7 into previously selected mode setting when opening of the lens cover is detected by the detection part 5.
