PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase light-emitting efficiency without raising discharge starting voltage. SOLUTION: In a conventional display device, it is difficult to raise luminous efficiency, although discharge can be generated at lower voltage than with an opposed discharge type by shortening the gap between display electrodes. In a display tube 1 including a tubular container 10 sealing discharge gas space, surface discharge 81 along a circumference surface of a container 10 and opposed discharge 82 across the inside of a container 31 are generated by a pair of display electrodes 21, 22. Discharge starting voltage can be lowered by making a surface discharge gap smaller, and a positive column having a large excitation efficiency can be extended by generating opposed discharge at an opposed electrode part separated with a nearly equal distance of a container diameter size. |
