PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a monochrome printing mode even when not all the developing units are attached in a color image forming device. SOLUTION: An engine controller detects and stores whether each developing unit is attached, and outputs a ready signal to a host computer if the black developing unit is attached (step S14). When a black-and-white image signal is inputted from the host computer (step S18), the performance of monochrome image sequence is permitted if the black developing unit is attached (step S19), so that monochrome printing is performed even though all the other color developing units are not attached. Meanwhile, when a color image signal is inputted, the performance of color image forming sequence is permitted only when all the developing units are attached (step S21). |
