PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method by which a highly efficiently optically coupled optical product can be assembled by bonding holding members holding an optical element to each other. SOLUTION: The front end face of the projecting section 56A of a second mount 56 is arranged in parallel with the end face of a first mount 52 by driving an adjusting stage. In this state, a wavelength changing element 54 placed on the second mount 56 is separated from the mount 56 by adsorbing the element 54 by means of an adsorbing member 18 and positioned on the mount 56 (Fig. (G)) by adjusting the position of the element 54 so that the end face of the element 54 becomes parallel to the light emitting surface of an LD element 50 (Fig. (E)). After the element 54 is positioned on the mount 56, the element 56 is bonded to the top face of the mount 56. The highly efficiently optically coupled optical product can be assembled by bonding the first and second mounts 52 and 56 to each other after the mount 56 is positioned and adjusted so that the output of the element 54 becomes the maximum by causing the LD element 50 to emit light.
