PURPOSE: To enable smooth moving of a thread needle by decreasing lifts on a cam face while a needle rises from the lowest position and thread is tensioned immediately after a looper scoops a needle thread loop, and to reduce coercive feeling belt by an operator by reducing projection amounts of a thread feeding means or a thread handling body projected from a sewing machine head in a needle thread control device of a multi-needle multi-thread chain stitch sewing machine, which has the thread feeding means attached to a needle bar and having a plurality of thread holes on a tip, and the thread handling body provided with the vertical cam face, wherein the needle thread from a tension device to a needle is controlled by vertical motion of the thread feeding means and action of the cam face of the thread handling body. CONSTITUTION: The thread feeding means 11 is attached to the needle thread 3 projected from the sewing machine head A, and thread holes 15 are horizontally arranged side by side. When the needle 2 rises from the lowest position, an endless hook 21 attached to the thread feeding means 11 engages with left needle threads 8 between the cam face lower end 12aa and the thread holes 15 of the thread feeding means 11 for raising the needle thread. The needle thread is held at the cam face lower end 12aa and fed by the thread feeding means, and the needle thread loops are sucked.
