PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device capable of suppressing a frequency of charge shift clock of an HCCD(Horizontal transfer CCD) to be low and taking a picture with high image quality. SOLUTION: Charges accumulated in a photoelectric transducer 21 are transferred to an HCCD 13a or to an HCCD 13b through a VCCD(Vertical transfer CCD) 22 and an oblique CCD 23. The output stages in the HCCDs 13a and 13b are disposed in opposite positions, charge implantation sections 14a and 14b are provided in the respective output stages, and a reference signal is implanted into a head of the charges. The level of a CCD signal between respective channels is adjusted on the basis of this reference signal. Thus, excellent photographing can be carried out.
