PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical receiver whose light receiving element is not deteriorated and destroyed even when receiving an excessive optical signal. SOLUTION: An electric field absorption optical modulator 7 is positioned at the front side of a light receiving face of the light receiving element 3, and the level of an optical signal to the light receiving element 3 is adjusted and restricted by changing the absorption amount of the optical signal of the electric field absorption optical modulator 7 so as to extend the range of a receptible optical input level, that is, the dynamic range and prevent deterioration and destruction of the light receiving element 3. |
