PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin nickel - hydrogen secondary battery having a large capacity and improved large-current discharging characteristics. SOLUTION: This thin nickel - hydrogen secondary battery is provided with a container constituting member 1 used as a positive electrode terminal at the same time, a positive electrode 2 disposed in the member 1 and including a conductive board 3 and an active material containing mix 4 kept by the conductive board 3, a container constituting member 8 used as a negative electrode terminal at the same time, and a negative electrode 7 disposed in the member 8 and including a hydrogen storage alloy. The battery is characterized in that the conductive plate 3 is exposed to at least a part of the positive electrode surface facing the inside surface of the member 1, and the conductive plate exposed region 3 is welded to the inside surface of the member 1.
