PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust the size of load, when a lock piece is engaged with and disengaged from an engaging part of a mating connector, without influencing the overall size. SOLUTION: This plug type connector has a contact point part 20, the lock piece 30, and a depressing operation member 50. The lock piece 30 is formed of a synthetic resin mold having a deflectively deformable arm part 32, and a locking part 33 engaged with and disengaged from the engaging part of the mating connector via deflective deformation of the arm part 32. The back part of the arm part 32 is provided with a backup material 60, having resiliency for adjusting the size of operation load required for deflectively deforming the arm part 32, by supporting the arm part 32. The backup material 60 is formed of plate piece-like elastomer, and the elasticity of the arm part 32 is adjusted by increasing/decreasing the thickness of the arm part 32.
