A controller controls load applied by an alternator to an internal combustion engine when a mechanical lock-up clutch is in engaged state during deceleration of the vehicle, such that the applied load is reduced to a lower value and the internal combustion engine speed is equal to or higher than fuel-cut recovery speed. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) vehicle; and (2) load control method.
