Disclosed are an olefinic thermoplastic elastomer which exhibits rubber elasticity, flexibility, moldability, and processability equivalent to those of olefinic thermoplastic elastomers of the prior art and has good mechanica l characteristics and wear resistance, particularly excellent mar resistance, and a process for the production thereof; compositions containing the elastomer, and a process for producing them; and molded articles of the elastomer or the compositions. The elastomer is essentially composed of an olefin random copolymer comprising ethylene, an .alpha.-olefin having 3 to 1 0 carbon atoms, an unsaturated monomer having a functional group, and, if necessary, a nonconjugated diene, and metal ions crosslinking the random copolymer.
