PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately display a section where a second image type picture is inserted when an insertion image signal is fed. SOLUTION: The image display comprises an NTSC insertion display detection section 35 for detecting that an image in a second image type (NTSC and the like) that differs from a first time type (HDTV and the like) corresponding to an image display drive section, an image display section is inserted into an image signal based on the difference in the image type display regions, and a brightness conversion section 34 for performing the color tone correction of the second image type picture, so that it corresponds to the first image type when the second image type picture is inserted into image signals by inputting the detection result of the NTSC insertion display detection section 35.
