PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To process a photographed image appropriately even when an intermediate accessory is employed. SOLUTION: The lens unit mountable removably on a camera processing a photographed image depending on the spectral characteristics of a photographing optical system and on an intermediate accessory mounted on the camera and mutually communicable with the camera comprises means for storing information indicative of the spectral characteristics of each combination of the lens unit and the intermediate accessory synthesizing the spectral characteristics of one or a plurality of types of intermediate accessory and the spectral characteristics of the lens unit, and a control means for determining the type of the intermediate accessory upon mounting and transmitting information indicative of the spectral characteristics of the intermediate accessory thus determined among information indicative of the spectral characteristics stored in the storing means to the camera.
