PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery for automobile filled with liquid, having resistance against leakage at every direction during extremely long period when a front, back or side surface of the battery is tilted by 90 deg., or when completely overturned against upright position. SOLUTION: A battery cover 12 is divided into at least two exhaust chambers 22, 22' by a separation wall 34 at the upper part of combined cells C1 to C3 and C4 to C6 respectively. Common evacuation passages VL1, VL2 connect the space on the combined cells C1 to C3 and C4 to C6, and one ends of common evacuation passages VL1, VL2 are sealed by evacuation stoppers 38, 38', and the other ends are connected to one ends of parallel evacuation passages 26, 26' through evacuation chambers 22, 22', and the other ends of parallel evacuation passages 26, 26' are connected to evacuation cap assembled bodies 36, 36' releasing the gas evacuated from the cell group of respective combined cells. |
