PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a multiplexed stream, a multiplexed-stream generating apparatus and method therefor, and a reproducible decoder of the same multiplexed stream having the structure whereby it can be reproduced in a seamless way even after editing it by using VOBU as a unit. SOLUTION: When packets are multiplexed, the reproducing time-instants of video and audio packets 110, 111 are compared with each other, and the video and audio packets 110, 111 to be reproduced within a constant temporal scope are so multiplexed as to include them in a single VOBU. Consequently, the multiplexed stream capable of reproducing it in a seamless way even after editing it by using VOBU as a unit can be created.
