PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability by immediately displaying an operating mode registered by a user. SOLUTION: In the personal digital assistant(PDA) composed of a display part 1 for displaying information composed of characters or images, a freely opening/closing lid part 2 for covering and protecting the display part 1, a lid opening/closing detecting part 3 for detecting the opening/closing state and opening direction of the lid part 2, a storage part 5 for storing the operating mode to be first displayed on the display part 1 after a power source is turned on and a main control means 6 for performing control so that information corresponding to the operating mode stored in the storage part 5 can be displayed on the display part 1 after the power source is turned on, this PDA is provided with an input part 4 for storing a plurality of operating modes, which are to be first displayed on the display part 1 after the power source is turned on in the storage part 5 corresponding to the opening direction of the lid part 2.
