PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone system with which even a person having a difficulty in hearing or in sight can perform satisfactory communication, equipped with versatility available for multiple purposes, portable telephone, a speaker and a microphone comprising such a portable telephone system. SOLUTION: This system is composed of portable telephone provided with a transmitting data converting part 114 for performing the mutual conversion of voice and character and a receiving mode switching part 104 for switching a first mode for performing communication on a telephone line and a second mode for performing the mutual conversion of voice and character, a speaker 200 provided with a character converting part 208 for converting voice data to character data, and a microphone 300 provided with a character converting part 306 for converting inputted voice data to character data.
