Flame stabiliser device for liquid fuel burner e.g. in gas turbine engine

The flame stabiliser device (20) comprises a tubular pillar (25), and an abutment element (22) having a through passage aligned with a bore of the pillar. A number of ceramic plates, arranged as a stack (23), each have an aperture through which the pillar can pass. A plate at one end of the stack cooperates with the abutment element. A clamp (29) operatively engages a plate at the other end of the stack. A stem (31), extending through the pillar and the abutment element, cooperates with the clamp for compacting the stack axially of the pillar against the abutment element.
