PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microscopic apparatus having such a method of holding optical elements which is capable of recording, read out, adding and correcting a large quantity of information necessary for making observation with high accuracy by each of the optical elements, and is capable of surely giving and receiving the information. SOLUTION: This microscopic apparatus has the optical element (5), which is disposed freely detachably at a carrier disposed at a microscopic body, a storage means (9) which is disposed at the optical element and stores the intrinsic information which is the characteristic information of the optical element and stored information read means (11) which is disposed on at least either of the microscopic body and the carrier and reads the information stored in the storage means. The microscopic apparatus has information wiring means (11), which writes the information exclusive of the intrinsic information of the optical element into the storage means in at least either of the microscopic body and the carrier.
