PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extend the life of an electric motor and increase the degree of freedom in an engine room layout. SOLUTION: An electric power steering device is provided in a vehicle 1 such as an automobile for transmitting driving force (steering assisting force) generated by the motor M to a steering mechanism 2 and in turn assisting the steering operation of a driver. The motor M as a source of the steering assisting force adopts a sensorless and brushless motor having no rotational position sensor for detecting the angle position of a rotor and no brush.
