PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a decompression refining method for acquiring high refining efficiency. SOLUTION: This decompression refining method is characterized in that flow velocity V (m/s) of a carrier gas in standard state terms, which passes through the throat part, and the later described d, D, and L, satisfy the relations expressed in (1)-(3): 0.0012V+0.63<=L/d<=0.002V+2.6 (1), 0.00015V+0.05<=d/D<=0.00018V+0.32 (2), and 100<=V<=1,000 (3), with the use of a top-blown lance having two-stage nozzles, of which the nozzle part consists of a throat part 3 with a diameter d and a magnified part following the throat part 3 with a diameter D and a length L.
