PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem wherein a printing paper is wound around a platen in a condition that the platen has a flat face, the printing paper tends to be floated from the platen face due to the rigidity of the paper so that troubles such as increase of impact sound by a printing element, adhering of ink to the printing paper, printing shift among paper sheets in a pressure sensitive paper (multi-ply paper), or the like may occur. SOLUTION: As a width of a flat section of a flat platen in a conveyance direction of a paper is made to be wide with respect to the rigidity of the paper, the floating of the paper in the impacting region of the printing element is suppressed, the impact sound by the printing element is suppressed, the adhering of the ink to the printing paper is prevented, and the printing shift among paper sheets in the pressure sensitive paper (multi-ply paper) or the like is suppressed.
