PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high speed stage-restricting device for a carrier vehicle usable for both the riding and walking, releasing a high-speed gear by the setting of handle rods to a walking work position, and preventing a changeover to the high-speed gear. SOLUTION: The carrier vehicle has a handle shaft 11 erected on a vehicle body frame, and the handle rods 6 extending to both right and left sides of the handle shaft 11. In riding operation, an operator operates the handle rods 6 from an operation seat. In walking operation, the operator turns and puts down the handle rods 6 forward, and operates the handle rods 6 with walking. The handle rods 6 and a change lever 7 of a transmission are connected by a wire 13. When turning the handle rods 6, the movement is transmitted to the change lever 7 by the wire 13, the setting of high-speed operation of the change lever 7 is changed over to low-speed operation or neutral, and a high speed stage of the transmission is closed to prevent the changeover to the high- speed gear.
