CYCLOPENTANONE DERIVATIVE

A novel cyclopentanone derivative which comprises a cyclopentanone or cyclopentanol ring having substituents in the 2- and 5-positions. The cyclopentanone derivative has a total carbon number of preferably 13 to 17. A perfume composition containing the cyclopentanone derivative has a flower-like aroma and emphasizes a natural and fresh feeling. It is useful in aroma impartation to, e.g., various toiletry products. Also provided is a process for producing the cyclopentanone derivative in a practical yield.
