PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase intensity of near field light, while narrowing the region where the near field light exists. SOLUTION: This near field optical generation element 10 is provided with a shielding member 12 arranged in an optical path of light, emitted from a light source to specify a microopening 20 having a diameter or smaller of the wavelength of the light, and a dielectric film 13 arranged close to the microopening. Alternatively, this near-field optical generation element 10' is provided with a shielding member 12' arranged in the optical path of the light emitted from the light source for specifying a microopening 20' having a diameter or smaller of wavelength of the light, the shielding member has a main part for specifying the basic shape of the microopening, and a protruded part 31 protruded from the main part toward the center of the microopening. |
