PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To process data and remove noise so that elevation differences may not occur between ways there and back in locational information data measured by a remote sensing device, that elevation differences may not occur even in a two-lane highway or a wider one, and that elevation differences may not occur at the same point in the locational information data measured by the remote sensing device even in the case of traveling behind several rounds of track. SOLUTION: In this automatic elevation point creating method, road sample points for automatically acquiring and restoring the three-dimensional shape geometric information or surface shape of an object road surface are created through the use of sensing data measured during traveling by a motor vehicle to which the remote sensing device is mounted. Points in center lines are simulatingly created so that elevation differences may not occur between ways there and back in a set of the sensing data obtained by the remote sensing device. Smoothing processing is performed on its sequence to reduce the data to the elevation values of the ways there and back, or smoother points of measurement are created by performing the processing by the same technique so that elevation differences may not occur even in a two-lane highway or a wider one.
