PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display apparatus wherein brightness degradation of a phosphor layer of a plasma display panel is prevented. SOLUTION: In this plasma display panel, a phosphor layer is composed of a phosphor the surface of which is coated with a lanthanum compound, an aluminum compound, a magnesium compound, a calcium compound, and/or a barium compound, each compound comprising fluorine or nitrogen, so that degradation in various steps for manufacturing the phosphor layer can be prevented, and brightness, lifetime and reliability can be improved.
