PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the supercooling of an evaporator and eliminate the trouble in cooling operation, when a load from the side of an indoor terminal machine is very small upon cooling operation and cooling operation stopping process or the like during the cooling operation, or when cold start is effected under a condition that a feed water temperature is low, in an absorptive cooling and heating machine. SOLUTION: The temperature of the evaporator 4 is detected by a first thermistor Tf upon cooling operation and cooling operation stopping process or the like during the cooling operation. The temperature of the evaporator 4 is judged based on an output from the first thermistor Tf whether the same is lower than 3 deg.C or not. When the temperature is lower than 3 deg.C, both or either one of a cooling tower fan S or a cooling water pump P2 is stopped. When the temperature of the evaporator 4 is raised to a value higher than 7 deg.C, the operation of both or either one of the cooling tower fan S or the cooling water pump P2 is re-started. According to this method, the supercooling and freezing of the evaporator 4 is prevented whereby the cooling operation is continued without interruption.
