PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide antibacterial treatment method, capable of effectively conducting antibacterial treatment inside an enclosed space. SOLUTION: This antibacterial treatment comprises fumigating the inside of the enclosed space with 4-hydroxy-6-methyl-3-(4-methylpentanoyl)-2-pyrone. The antibacterial treatment of every part inside the enclosed space is effectively conducted by the method. The fumigation is, for example, conducted by heating an antibacterial agent which contains the 4-hydroxy-6-methyl-3-(4- methylpentanoyl)-2-pyrone as an active ingredient so as to vaporize an effective amount of the pyrone compound.
