A conventional drive train has a starter (60) linked to an internal combustion engine (ICE) (2) via an electromagnetically operated dog clutch (62). The ICE links to vehicle wheels (64) via an automatic starting clutch (4) and gearbox (6) that is automatic for selecting individual gears. The drive train has a start/stop function for running all changes in the starting clutch.
