The double crank drive has a toothed rim which although otherwise fixed is brought movably into the crank casing where it can be adjusted during operation by an adjusting crank or a self-locking worm gearing infinitely by smaller or larger angular degrees so that the piston end positions can be shortened or extended in the upper and lower dead centres thus changing the piston stroke and also the compression ratio.
