PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen generator able to save energy to increase temperature of supplied water and to reduce thermal stress caused by a temperature difference at a junction of supplied water and recycled water. SOLUTION: The hydrogen generator is equipped with a reformer 1 to reform a raw fuel gas of which the main components are hydrocarbons such as natural gas, LNG, LPG or methanol to a hydrogen enriched gas using steam, a pressure swing adsorber(PSA) 5 to separate hydrogen from a reformed gas and to refine it, a steam separator 2 and a water heating unit to generate steam by heating water in the steam separator. The water heating unit is equipped with a heat exchange 40 for reformer waste heat recovery installed for heating water in the steam separator using an exhausted combustion gas from the reformer and an auxiliary electric heater 50. The hydrogen generator is also equipped with a supplied water preheater 64 to preheat the supplied water for the steam separator 2 by the exhausted combustion gas of the reformer from the heat exchanger 40 for reformer waste heat recovery. |
