PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder in which lowering of pump efficiency of a suction pump for sucking and discharging ink from a recording head due to accumulated use can be compensated. SOLUTION: A recording head 8 carried on a carriage 1 has a nozzle forming face being sealed by a capping means 11 at the home position. The capping means 11 is connected with a suction pump 12. Depending on the count of a counter 49 accumulating the quantity of waste liquid, a pump drive correcting means 52 controls a driving power being fed to a motor 15 for rotary driving the suction pump 12. Consequently, lowering of pump efficiency of the suction pump 12 due to accumulated use is compensated and an appropriate quantity of ink is discharged constantly from the recording head 8 at the time of cleaning operation. |
