PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preventing a vinylsulfone compound from quality deterioration even if a large quantity thereof is subjected to filtration treatment, and to provide a method for industrially purifying the vinylsulfone compound. SOLUTION: This method for preventing the vinylsulfone compound from quality deterioration comprises making a filtration treatment of a solution in the presence of a compound of general formula [2] [where, R<1> is a lower alkyl, lower alkoxy or OH; R<2> is H or a lower alkyl; and Z is H, a lower alkyl or group of general formula [3] (where, R<3> is a lower alkyl, lower alkoxy or OH; and R<4> is H or a lower alkyl)]; wherein the solution is prepared by dissolving the crudely crystallized vinylsulfone compound of general formula [1]: H2 C=CHSO2 -A-SO2 CH=CH2 (where, A is a bivalent hydrocarbon group optionally bearing heteroatom) in a water-miscible organic solvent.
