PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress an error in measuring pitches of labels or tags. SOLUTION: A label length is made to be an average of measured values of a predetermined number of label lengths. For example, a label length C4 of a label 1-4 after correction is an average of measured values of respective lengths of labels 1-1 to 1-4 (=(L1+L2+L3+L4)/4). A label length C5 of a label 1-5 after correction is an average of measured values of respective lengths of 1-2 to 1-5 (=(L2+L3+L4+L5)/4). A label length C6 of a label 1-6 after correction is an average of measured values of respective lengths of 1-3 to 1-6 (=(L3+L4+L5+L6)/4). If, for example, the measured value of the label length of the label 1-6 and an average of the measured value of the respective label lengths of the labels 1-2 to 1-5 differ by more than a predetermined reference range, the measured value of the label 1-6 is determined to be abnormal.
