摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an optical element by which an unhardened component in a hardening type liquid crystal material can be sufficiently decreased and an optical element having excellent optical characteristics can be easily manufactured at a low cost even when an optical element having a plurality of layers deposited is manufactured. SOLUTION: A first liquid crystal mixture material prepared by adding a polymerization initiator in a hardening type liquid crystal material is deposited on an alignment film 12 formed on a substrate 11 and subjected to rubbing treatment, and the first liquid crystal mixture material is aligned by the alignment regulating force of the alignment film 12. Then the film of the first liquid crystal mixture material formed on the substrate 11 (on the alignment film 12) is irradiated with electron beams to three-dimensionally crosslink the material to form a first cholesteric layer 13'. Then a second liquid crystal mixture material prepared by adding a polymerization initiator to a hardening type liquid crystal material is deposited on the first cholesteric layer 13' and the second liquid crystal mixture material is aligned by the alignment regulating force of the first cholesteric layer 13'. At last, the film of the second liquid crystal mixture material formed on the cholesteric layer 13' is irradiated with electron beams to three-dimensionally crosslink the material to form a second cholesteric layer 13".
