PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a tilt detecting device which actualizes simple constitution and easy adjustment and can detect the direction and extent of a tilt and is applicable even to the automatic tilt adjustment of a body to be detected through feedback control. SOLUTION: The device has a diaphragm 4 which is fitted to a device main body and also fitted with a weight 8 and takes a tilt posture as a device main body tilts, and electrodes 6 and 7 which are arranged on the device main body across the diaphragm 4. The electrodes 6 and 7 are composed of split electrodes which are split along the circumference of the diaphragm, and the tilt of the diaphragm 4 is detected from the electrostatic capacity difference that the split electrodes have as the diaphragm 4 tilts and the tilt of the device main body is detected. It is recommended that the weight 8 is formed cylindrically and fitted onto the diaphragm 4 while having its center axis vertically.
